About Sandra M. Moore
Sandra M. Moore is a life-long educator with a passion for helping young people discover the “right” college match.
The founder and principal of Next Step College Counseling, Sandra began her career as a residence counselor at Bennett College in Millbrook, NY, and has served as assistant, associate and acting director of admissions at Sarah Lawrence College (Bronxville, NY), the director of admissions at Eugene Lang College of the New School (New York, NY) and the director of admissions and financial aid at The Masters School (Dobbs Ferry, NY) and Poughkeepsie Day School (Poughkeepsie, NY), where she also served as a member of the college counseling team for many years.
Sandra regularly meets with college admission officers from around the country and every year visits dozens of campuses to get a first-hand sense of their offerings. And she offers pro bono informational seminars for parents and students at local libraries and other venues to share her knowledge and experiences. Her blog, "College Aid," is hosted by the Poughkeepsie Journal and is frequently featured in the newspaper's "Best of the Blogs" series.
A cum laude graduate of Mount Holyoke College, Sandra received a master’s degree in higher and adult education from Columbia University and is a professional member of the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA), the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) and the New York State Association for College Admission Counseling (NYSACAC). In July of 2015 she joined the network of professional advisers participating in the new Money College Planner website just launched by Money Magazine, and in September she became the college counseling consultant at Woodstock Day School (Saugerties, NY).
